About the role
You make serious computing comfortable to live with: sustained performance, safe temperatures, quiet operation, and physical durability. In a home, acoustics are a product requirement rather than a specification, and a machine somebody finds annoying is a machine they turn off.
The work
Model and measure heat flow, airflow, enclosure mechanics and noise. Work with electrical and industrial-design partners on serviceable construction. Test dust, ambient temperature, placement and sustained mixed workloads rather than relying on a short benchmark.
What good looks like
In your first 90 days, deliver a measured thermal and acoustic envelope and a reference enclosure or platform recommendation.
Evidence we look for
Bring mechanical, thermal or acoustic engineering experience with physical products. Show how measurements changed a model or design assumption.
What we need to see
- Mechanical, thermal, or acoustic engineering with physical products behind it
- You can show a case where measurement changed a model or a design assumption
- You design for sustained load rather than for burst benchmarks
- You treat noise as seriously as heat
Nice to have
- Psychoacoustics, or tuning for perceived rather than measured noise
- CFD and thermal simulation
- Consumer product design experience
